Panos Chatzistefanou Folio

Anastasia. Sofa light -

Anastasia at her parents’ house, lying on the sofa in silence. It was late, and nothing much was happening, just that quiet moment of disconnection, surrounded by old photos, soft light, and the weight of familiar things.

A pause inside a place that holds memory, where the ordinary turns inward, if only for a while.

    "Offline" by Panos Chatzistefanou

The Offline series began as an observation of solitude within familiar spaces—where people leave behind their public selves and exist alone with their thoughts. In a world that demands constant connectivity, these women find themselves in a different kind of disconnection—one that removes them from external perception, social expectations, and perhaps even from themselves.

They are portrayed in their homes, caught in moments that might otherwise go unnoticed: a pause between movements, a late-night cigarette, a gaze lost in the window. Fleeting, mundane, almost indifferent moments. Yet, these moments carry a quiet weight. Each figure seems to linger between here and elsewhere, engaged in a dialogue with something unspoken.

The series stands in contrast to the curated aesthetics of social media, where both personal space and self-image are carefully constructed for external perception. Here, the home is not a backdrop for self-presentation but a site of internal exposure. The women exist exactly as they are in that moment—unpolished, unposed, unfiltered. Their clothing is incidental, their expressions unguarded, their presence untouched by the need to impress or perform. Photography here does not capture an idealized moment but lingers on what remains unsaid: a quiet refusal of spectacle, a confrontation with solitude, a space where disconnection becomes its own presence.

Rather than impose a narrative, the work invites the viewer into a space of quiet tension—where stillness is not emptiness but something unresolved, a pause that extends beyond the frame.

TECHNICAL NOTES: All images are staged and photographed digitally, using available light or minimal LED lighting. The scenes are built inside each protagonist’s real domestic space. I direct the atmosphere, framing, and gestures with precision, and post-production plays a key role in sculpting mood, tone, and color to match the emotional intent of each moment.

Jenny at her desk - Late at night, Jenny sits alone at her desk, surrounded by stillness. The frame is split between two opposing worlds, blue light in the background evokes isolation, coolness, a sense of mental focus; while the warm foreground suggests domesticity, comfort, and presence. This visual contrast mirrors an inner tension between public and private, attention and withdrawal.

It’s not about doing, but about being. About the moments that pass unnoticed, until we choose to noti

Nightfall reflections on the couch  - She sits quietly on the couch, bathed in the dim glow of the television. The light is soft, blue and distant, drawing out a sense of stillness and inwardness. The room feels hushed, as if the day has fully receded. A solitary moment where thought lingers and time briefly pauses.

Efxaris, about to take her pill - Efxaris is caught in a moment of quiet hesitation. She stands by the kitchen counter, holding the blister pack, her body half-lit by the fading daylight. It’s a simple gesture, taking a pill, but in this still frame it becomes something more: a pause between action and thought, care and habit. The domestic space is calm but charged, a place where routine blurs with inward reflection.

The photo lingers on that fleeting second before movement resumes.

Yuli in her room - Just after she returned home late at night, Yuli sits at the edge of her bed. There’s a stillness in these hours, when the warmth of the heater meets the weight of the day and thoughts begin to settle.

A quiet moment between presence and withdrawal, where the familiar space feels both close and distant.
